The British pound strengthened against the other major currencies in the Asian session on Thursday.
The pound rose to 0.7308 against euro for the first time since December 2007. At yesterday’s close, the pair was trading at 0.7314.
Against the U.S. dollar and the yen, the pound advanced to near 2-month highs of 1.5551 and 185.01 from yesterday’s closing quotes of 1.5526 and 184.54, respectively.
The pound appreciated to nearly a 1-1/2-month high of 1.4760 against the Swiss franc, from yesterday’s closing value of 1.4724.
If the pound extends its uptrend, it is likely to find resistance around 0.71 against the euro, 1.56 against the greenback, 188.40 against the yen and 1.55 against the franc.
